For all those things you wanted to know about
Barefoot Studio Pilates.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable workout clothes. You’ll be lying down some of the time with your hands or legs in the air so make sure your clothes move with you. You don’t wear shoes or socks in class – regular socks will make you slide too much and can be unsafe. We suggest you go barefoot!
What should I do if I am new?
If you have no prior group reformer pilates class experience be sure to book into a Foundation Reformer Class. Please arrive 10 minutes before your first class to meet your instructor so you can be given a rundown on the equipment and you can let her know of any injuries you have, or have had previously.
Why do you use Reformer Pilates beds?
Pilates reformer machines are the ultimate choice for lean muscle toning due to the adjustable finely tuned spring loaded resistance and the wide variety of exercises available. Springs help to lengthen and strengthen muscles, rather than building bulk. The springs are useful to provide both assistance in some exercises and added resistance challenge in others, making it an invaluable tool.
How do I cancel a booking?
Cancellations can be made from your account on the MINDBODY App of via the Barefoot Studio Website or over the phone. For Group Reformer Pilates you can freely cancel up to 12 hours prior to the class start time. If you cancel less than 12 hours before the start of class, this will count as a late-cancel. If you late cancel or no-show and are on a class pass or casual pass you will lose a credit.
For all 1:1 sessions 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule. If you late cancel or no-show and are you will be charged for the class or a class credit will be deducted.
Even if you have just found out you are pregnant your instructor needs to know. We can note this on your profile and how many weeks. Your information is completely confidential. Pregnant clients need to avoid activities where they might get too hot, lying on their back, inversions, heavy lifting and various other exercises. We recommend just participating in Foundation Reformer, unless you have had a consistent practice leading up to your pregnancy.
What is a Studio Equipment Class?
Studio Equipment Classes refer to the Private, Duet, Small Group and Mums & Bubs Classes where each person is given an individual Pilates experience. These classes are perfect for those requiring rehabilitation but the classes can also be strong, sport focused and dynamic. You will be taught more about the Pilates Method using a variety of Pilates apparatus including the Reformer, Caddilac, Wunda Chair, Barrel and Arc.
Is there Studio Etiquette?
Arrive at least 5 minutes before class. All group classes start promptly so for the safety and enjoyment of all participants you cannot enter class after the class starts. If you need to leave a class early, please notify your instructor prior to class. No glass or tea cups in class space. Broken glass is a hazard for folk in bare feet. Please wipe down your reformer bed at the end of each class. If you have any personal items please store them on the shelf at reception. Phones can be distracting to you and others so please switch your phone to silent of turn off before class starts.
